The Costa Maya Snorkeling, Fishing
and Beach excursion offers a great way to see the best of Mahahual and
Costa Maya, both above and below the water surface.
The Private Snorkeling tour departs
from our beautiful Beach Break Resort located just a few minutes south
of the busy cruise ship town of Mahahual. Our tour takes you away from
it all to one of the best snorkeling areas along the Costa Maya reef
where you will see an abundance of tropical fish and the best coral
formations on the coast.
A quick 20-30 minute journey by boat
will transport you to the snorkeling site, a pristine coral reef that boasts
spectacular Elk Coral, schools of brightly colored Blue Tangs and
a multitude of species of tropical fish. Spotted Eagle Rays, stingrays
and sea turtles often frequent this site so
keep your eyes open!
Following your snorkeling adventure
you will have the choice to either fish in the abundant waters of
Costa Maya or enjoy a deserted beaches exploration tour, the choice is
yours.
The Fishing can be either bottom
fishing or trolling. Bottom fishing is fantastic for young
children or for beginners. Trolling is for bigger game fish and
a great opportunity to catch the big one!
This private boating excursion
returns to the departure point approximately 2hrs after departure.
You will have the choice of staying in the Town of Mahahual for a
little exploration on your own, or some vacation shopping. You
may also return to the Port by acquiring one of the many taxis
servicing the area.
The Town of Mahahual has only been
recently discovered. A short time ago Mahahual was a sleepy
fishing village far away from civilization. Fishing, whether by
snorkeling with a spear or line, fishing was their livelihood!
The snorkeling excursion we have organized is conducted with native
fishermen, born and raised in Mahahual, their knowledge of the area is
unmatched. The vessels used in Mahahual are Mexican skiffs,
known as Pangas, even though "rustic" in looks they navigate the local
seas like no other vessel. The manage short waves like a knife
through butter, and are for the most splash free due to the shape of
the vessel.

PLEASE NOTE:
You will find snorkeling trips
offer in Costa Maya for as little as $35usd pp. The cheaper
trips will take you to a nearby reef (5 minutes from the beach) on the
mouth of the main entrance channel. The water is mostly rough
with outward, swift, moving currents. The cheaper trips are only
45min beach to beach.
Our tour has been organized by
our Company as a private Tour, and only for your family or group.
We visit reefs not accessible from shore, nor near Town where all
other tours of this nature are conducted. Our exploration is
unfound in Costa Maya, please keep in mind this is not your average
snorkeling trip, it is a private adventure excursion!
